Intros

I don't know about you, but the Title and Intro are typically the first thing I notice about an item, whether it's a static item or activity. It's what ultimately draws me in and makes me want to learn more. I think the intro is often over-looked as a great tool to get people to look at your item!

Some ideas for intros:

*Star* One of my favorites is letting people know if a contest or activity is currently open and when the current round ends. It's a great way to let people know it's open for submissions! Some examples:

FORUM
The Lodestar Contest  (13+)
Looking for a guiding light. May 2024 round is open, looking for short stories.
#2130938 by Satuawany

FORUM

FORUM
Magic Words Contest   (13+)
A fantasy short story contest. Fantastic Prizes. Closed
#1871010 by A E Willcox

*Star* Another great idea is to simply have a quick summary of your activity so viewers will know right away if it's the right place for them to visit! Whether it's letting viewers know it's a weekly/monthly/daily contest or listing the genre or type of entries you're looking for, it's a great place to give some quick specifics! Some examples:;

FORUM
Dragon Eggs  (E)
Buy into the egg of your choice supporting your favorite group.
#2213715 by Silverwindrose Dragon Minstrel

FORUM
Twisted Tales Contest  (13+)
A monthly contest for stories with a twist. Get 500 GPs for entering! June round open!
#1269187 by Arakun the Twisted Raccoon

FORUM
Poetic Traditions Poetry Contest   (E)
A Contest for Metrical Rhyming Poetry.
#2055137 by Brenpoet moving house

FORUM
Gang's Monthly Review Board  (13+)
Alumni & Newbies, post all reviews here. Earn badges, ribbons & Gps.
#1706303 by Osirantinous

*Up* Bonus points for naming the types of awards given!

As for contest entries, it can be a good place to state which contest you've entered (a link to the contest in the item itself is always a great idea, too!), or you can elaborate on the type of story or poem the viewer/judge is about to read! Some examples:

The Ozzard of Wiz  [E]
Limerick, specially written for Lucky Limericks contest
by ☮ The Grum Of Grums

Spring Showers  [13+]
Spring Showers ~ Form: Joybell
by Sharmelle's Expressions

 Julina's New Friend  [E]
A bit of "arachno-fiction" for The Writer's Cramp
by Dan I Am

Give some thought to your next intro!

As always, keep on writing! *Quill*
