Let's Talk Intros

My last Contests & Activities Newsletter talked about titles and how important they can be for Contests. This time around, I wanted to talk about Intros.

*Idea* Whether it's for a Contest or a Contest Entry, your intro is a great opportunity to give just a little more information to the viewer about what they can expect to find inside.

*Idea* The intro is a great place to intrigue your viewer if you (like me) aren't the best at coming up with titles! *Pthb* Some of us (again, myself included) can have trouble coming up with a witty or intriguing title, but the intro is a good place to have a clever or enticing phrase that will draw the viewer's attention. It can make them click to view the piece, and that's our goal, right?

*Exclaim* Remember to rate correctly! Your Title and Intro share a rating, so make sure they're rated correctly!

*Idea* The intro can be a good place to expand on the theme of your contest. You can tell viewers here if it is a daily/weekly/monthly contest or even just list the current deadline for entries.

*Idea* The intro is an ideal place to have changing information. It's a good idea to keep your title the same so viewers can find it easily, but you can change your intro to reflect the current theme, whether the contest is open/closed for entries, or even if judging is currently taking place!

Examples of some good intros:

As you can see, you have plenty of options with your intro. It's just one more great tool to promote your piece and to invite viewers to click!

My last newsletter, ({nl:7583), discussed Contest Titles

I would totally enter a contest that calls itself "Horror contest" but is actually a "Contest for Romance!" :D

Such a great NL! I usually just put in whatever comes to my mind first, but I agree that titles are super important.
~ CasualWriter~thanks, Anon!

It does have a certain appeal, doesn't it? *Laugh*
