A poem I wrote while waiting for my online boyfriend to make his first visit.
He whispers like a long forgotten dream,
Falling for a man I’ve never seen,
The longing in his voice is easy to hear,
Resounding in my head loud and clear,
Feelings that I had long since lost,
Swirl in my head until my eyes go crossed,
What are these things I feel,
And how can I be sure they are even real.

His words are not easy to forget,
Falling for a man I’ve never met,
We talk until the night draws in,
Although sometimes it is hard to begin,
His conversation draws him near,
It’s almost as though he’s really here,
Long conversation by candlelight,
Talking late in to the night.

Sometimes overcome with lust,
Falling for a man I’ve never touched,
Conversations not always chaste,
To talk about them would mean losing face,
Our private lives are but our own,
Behind closed doors in our own home,
Lying in bed late at night,
With mental images I will not fight.

Saturday brings him on a plane,
Falling for a man I’ve never tamed,
Only five more days until we meet,
Am unsure of the best way to greet,
Overcome with nervousness,
Not sure what to do for the best,
When I see him I’m sure I’ll know,
And into the sunset we will go.

He whispers like a long forgotten dream,
Falling for a man I’ve never seen,
His words are not easy to forget,
Falling for a man I’ve never met,
Sometimes overcome with lust,
Falling for a man I’ve never touched,
Saturday brings him on a plane,
Falling for a man I’ve never tamed,
He whispers like a long forgotten dream,
Falling for a man I’ve never seen.
