Something simple I wrote in free time, I hope you like it.
In the forest lies
Ancient stone of glory past
Dead empires fall.

The splendor of old
Is not and shall never be
What was is no more.

Over nothingness
A magnificent moon rises
Astounding many.

Astounding with chaos
Within our souls a portal
Mortar and brick lie.

From generations
past ruins lie among the leaves
Many seek to find.

Civilization
Fallen from its height once known
Few scholars know it.

In the days of old
Mayans roamed this vast expanse
Of forest and cliff

Magnificent streams
Flow through cities from ago
To a priory

The priestess sits now
Within the meadow she found
Solitudes beginnings
