the u-turn we don't want to make.
I find myself on a one way street,
Heading somewhere I can do better,
Finding the supposed light at the end,
Ready to embrace my bright future.

The street goes a long way back,
Lanes with disturbing memories,
Intersecting every kilometer or so,
Molding me into what I now am.

The light is green almost always,
Every now and then it goes yellow,
Even fewer times it turns bright red,
While I wait the thought interrupts.

The nagging voice that screams,
Turn around because it is there,
It says I left something behind,
Then the red goes green again.

The U-turn I don’t want to make,
The voice doesn’t understand,
This is a street with one direction,
Can’t try to turn around anymore.

Turn at the intersections it says,
But there I find the tragedies,
Go slower it repeats in my ear,
Turn the fuck around it yells.

If I turn around in this street,
A very expensive traffic ticket,
Awaits me on the way back,
Something I’m not willing to pay.

Can’t try to turn around on a one way street,
The U-turn has a way to empty your pockets,
I have everything to lose and nothing to win,
So shut up so I can put my foot on the gas.
