Yet another i started a while ago and never got around to continuing as of yet
Jason was walking through the forest again to make sure no one else was around like he did every night. He'd been doing this every night for the past 9 years ever since his parents had to leave him at their cabin in the forest. They had asked him to make sure no one ever comes in and starts snooping around. But not what anyone would be snooping around for. They gave him a pendent and ring that he'd never taken off since then, it was the only thing they had given him that he still had. They had saidthey it would help him when he would have the need for it. He knew it was something important that he had to protect otherwise his parents wouldn't have left him here to do so and went to wherever they had gone to.
He's had a few people that ended up showing up late into the night. Always close to midnight when the forest was re-organizing itself. So if someone were to get lost in these particular woods they wouldn't be getting out anytime soon, that is if they lived through their first night. There were many different animals that Jason had run into over the years. Some of them didn't make sense to him most of the time because they shouldn't be in the woods or alive for that matter.
Suddenly Jason heard a scream from somewhere in the forest.
As he was thinking about how the forest might change tonight he ran into a girl and they both fell into the mud. After Jason helped her up he realized that she looked to be his age of 16 but that she also seemed oddly familiar somehow and couldn't think of why. He asked her if she knew where she was. She replied with a yes and named the forest as well; The Forest of Shadows. He had no idea how she knew that she was in the forest, but then again he didn't understand how any of the gates that only opened at sunset and sunrise around the forest worked either. He just knew that every now and again people would make it through and get lost. Jason helped those people find their way back to the human world. He's only had two non-humans find their way into the forest. They were both looking for something that is hidden deep inside of the forest. Jason didn't even know what that hidden thing was but he knew it was what he was supposed to keep hidden from people that shouldn't be here. He told them that they had gotten lost and once morning came that he'd be sure to help them find their way back home. He never saw the same visitor twice. He never saw anyone twice because the forest had its own time that differed from the human world. The forest opened itself up to those that needed help finding their way back onto their path. He didn't know why, but he just helped the people and sent them on their way back home. As he was thinking about that he noticed that the girl was staring at him as if remembering something.
"So why are you in this forest?" Jason asked.
"I'm looking for something very important, and I need your help to find it." The girl said.
"What exactly is it that you're looking for. If it's the same thing as the two angels that came here looking for something then I can't help you." Jason said.
"It is the same thing but I have a different reason to find it," The girl said.
"Ok, what is the reason then?" Jason asked.
"I need to go back to it to keep a promise I made with some friends from long ago," The girl said.
"So you're the one that left it here in the forest and you need it again to keep a promise. What is that promise?" As Jason said this he noticed that the girl seemed rather sad.
"Oh, I'm afraid that I can't say anything about that just yet. Certain things have to fall into place for me to tell you anything. And before you say anything that is also a part of the promise I made with certain people." The girl said.
"Fine, I'll help you for now. But if you do anything the other two did I will personally escort you out of the forest and you won't ever find your way back here again." Jason paused before continuing. "Follow me I have a tent set up so you can change your clothes, but first I need to climb that tree right there to get some stuff." Jason pointed to the tree the meant and climbed it in a few seconds. He found exactly what he was looking for; the Pendent his parents left him, he'd taken it off earlier in the day so he could go swimming in the lake nearby, his shoes and the ring that someone he couldn't quite remember gave to him. He put both the pendent and the ring on, and climbed back down the tree. The girl was waiting for him in the same place as when he left.
"Are you ready now?" The girl said as she noticed the ring on his hand. "Where did you get that ring?" she asked.
"Someone who I can't really remember gave it to me. It used to be on the same necklace as this pendent." As he said that he took the pendant from out of his shirt to show her.
"I have seen both the pendant and ring before. They used to belong to friends of mine." She said this and as she continued to look at both the Pendent and the ring her face went pale as if she had remembered something unpleasant.
"What's wrong?"
