RESTING PLACE

Saw the resting place today;
Many years have passed by,
Yet the winds still howl
And the trees seem to sigh.

There mother, father, son
Lie side by side in the gloom,
With them are buried secrets
Of their untimely doom.

It was a mystery never solved
No, they never really knew
What events led to the deaths
Of the family - not a clue!

It wasn't meant to happen
But I never left a trace -
Now I've come back to see
Their final resting place.

From deep within I could hear
The cries of a long dead soul;
I turned and looked down,
The hand was boney mold.

It beckoned me to join them
I saw a vision of his face;
My brother wanted me to come
To their final resting place.

In horror I ran from the graves
But a chant was in my ears -
"Don't leave us here alone,
We've waited for you for years."

Frozen in my footsteps, yet
I turned and walked back in
The little cemetery -
I would never leave again.
