Summary of this Book...
Sandman is about the Endless beings of existence. They are: Destiny, Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium, and the protagonist of Sandman, Dream. In a crude attempt to entrap Death, a mortal captures Dream instead and holds him prisioner for 80 years. When the Lord of Dreams and Nightmares escapes, he finds his Dream Relm in chaos. He has to search through the world and even through Hell to find the three items that will be able to fix his relm. His pouch of sand, battle helmet, and ruby neckless.
I especially liked...
I loved everything this book had to offer. The beautiful illustrations of the Dream World and of Hell where simple amazing. One of the most powerful scenes of this book is when Morpheus(dream) goes down to Hell to fetch his helmet from one of the demons and has to compete for his soul in Hell. By doing this he embarasses Lucifur and makes a powerful enemy. This book is deep and powerful. It's witty, vicious, elegant, and cruel.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Cry because it was so deep and powerful.
This Book made me feel...
This book made me go through every emotion one could possibly go through.
The author of this Book...
Neil Gaiman is a brilliant writer. Neil Gaiman's work on The Sandman is so exellent, so much a presentation of the new high water mark, that we realize as we read, that it is about something, that it is not merely an amusing entertainment.
I recommend this Book because...
It's simply a great book with no imperfections. I would recommend this book to older readers becuse it is deep and complicted. Most young readers simply wouldn't understand it.
Further Comments...
Now that you have read this far, I would now like to take this time to tell you that this is not actually a book at all. It's in fact a comic. A trade paperback. In 1991 Neil Gaiman won the H.P. Lovecraft trophy for the years best short story. . . an issue of the Sandman "comic book". Ever since Neil won the award, the board in charge of the FantasyCo have written the rules that no "comic book" will ever be nominated, much less have the opportunity to kick serious artistic but.
