Summary of this Book...
This book is about a sisteen year old girl named Gemma Doyle who witnesses her mother's death through a vision, which actually happened to be true. After her mother's death, she moves to London to go to an all girls' school of etiquette called Spence where she makes a few friends and eventually shares her secret with the girls, her vision. It isn't long before Gemma learns of an ancient evil who is after her for her powers, and is warned by a young man named Kartik to not use her powers. Gemma disobeys him and enters the realms, a mystical area where everything you wish will come true. Soon, the evil that Kartik warned her about comes true and it is up to her to destroy it. I will not give away the end of the book, however, because I'm hoping this review will encourage you to read it.
This type of Book is good for...
Reading on your own time, or pleasure reading.
I especially liked...
Kartik, he was my favorite character, and extremely mysterious. I loved how Gemma and him both felt something for eachother, but they never went out and said it.
I didn't like...
The unsatisfactory ending. It ended just where everything was supposedly well, though the reader is hungry for more. There is a second book, called Rebel Angels, however. So after reading this book, I'd recomment Rebel Angels.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Go out and buy Rebel Angels. I couldn't read anything else until I figured out what happened to Gemma and Kartik.
This Book made me feel...
Incredibly happy. I couldn't put down the book it was so good!
The author of this Book...
Writes very descriptively. This is one of the easier books I have read at my age, though I'd recommend it for ages 13 and up.
I recommend this Book because...
It is one of the very few books that I could take pride in reading for a long time. One of the few books that didn't stress me out.
I don't recommend this Book because...
Well, there's nothing really that would stop me from getting you to read it.
Further Comments...
Overall, I'd recommend this book for girls, as the few main characters are female, save for Kartik. However, if you are a male and enjoy reading books about females, dive on in!
