Amae is a collection of journal exercises, rituals, meditations, and "tips and tricks." They come together to assist the reader in making a transition to a more intimate lifestyle. The book does address physical intimacy, as you would suspect, but places most of its emphasis on emotional, intellectual and spiritual intimacy. It also touches on topics that aren't covered often in Pagan reference books, such as fasting and body modification, within the context of gaining intimacy.

This is definitely a self-discovery book. It's great for use by an individual, but many of the exercises and rites translate well into a group setting, making it valuable for circles as well.

Please note that I am not rating the book, based on quality of writing or usefulness to me as an individual, because I am the author. I feel that my review would be biased. However, I encourage you to check the book out and leave your own review.
