At the end of the day a taxi picks up a mother and son and delivers them home. On the way they see other vehicles settling down for the night, each turning off lights and engines and going to bed. At the end the boy snuggles down, clutching a firetruck, and goes to sleep himself.

Story-time before naps or bedtime.

The repeated verse, "Off go their engines. *click* Off go their lights." It makes it easy to remind kids about the book as you settle them down, even if you don't read the whole book.

One of the last trucks they see is an ice cream truck, which the taxi stops and the three get ice-cream. Not exactly a bedtime activity, but cute.

Go to sleep, too.

Tired - in a good way - and relaxed.

Filled a bedtime story nitch for boys. Trucks and sleep don't usually go together, but here they are seemless.

Anything that makes nap time easier is wonderfully useful in my home with twin toddlers.

The art in this picture book stands alone as well. When it's not nap time, they still like to 'read' the book because the trucks are all very interesting to look at.
