This is the story of famous actress of the 30s, 40s and 50s, Hedy Lamarr. She was actually a brilliant scientist who basically invented a new weapons system for the Navy and the mother of the modern cell phone. I had no idea of this before. She escaped Nazi-controlled Austria and an abusive husband who sold munitions and weapons to Austria and then Hitler. She always listened to the men at dinner parties and they talked a lot in front of her, so much that she realized what weapons were needed to defeat the Nazis.

She was astonishingly brave, but felt guilty about hiding the fact that she was Jewish. At that time, her survival was at stake. Hers is a brilliant and adventurous life, having contributed immeasurably to the U.S. military, her ideas were brushed off by the Navy only to be adopted later, without giving her credit. She didn't do it for credit, though. She did it to help the people of Austria and the world.

This story is told in first person. It dragged some while she was still in Austria, but as a whole is an intriguing and inspiring tale of courage and ingenuity.

She was a true hero of the war effort, although never recognized for her contributions because she was a beautiful movie star, and more importantly a beautiful woman.
