While I enjoyed this book overall, I felt it was a little light on "timeless strategies" and a little heavy on anecdotes. One of the reasons why I read books about the business of writing is to get practical advice and insights, and I didn't find the history lessons to be all that useful. I was hoping for a little more author insight and depth beyond just reporting on how other creative people found their specific path to success, but it was an otherwise solid read.
