This poem hits really close to home and I think you did a great job getting the feelings of both sides across. The words are sad but towards the end become hopeful and that feels cathartic. =)
Interesting characters and I would like to know more about why Genevieve is studying with Narlin. The simple writing is a bonus. I like that the events are clearly laid out and too much time isn't wasted on detailing little things, especially when it came to the underwater scene. The emotional impact was still there.
This was very well written and kept me guessing the whole time, which kept it tense. Not knowing the gender of the main character also added to that and it was a good surprise to be thrown in completely blind. When I read the word mammogram I understood all the tension and I wanted this character to be okay. The story ending where it did added to the built up emotion and was perfect. Great writing! =)
The narration of this poem was sweet and humorous at the same time. It was nice to read and to me the poem flowed very well, though I'm nowhere close to an expert. I also liked that it gave an intimate feel without a need for any overly fluffy language that would bog it down. Good work. =)
