Honestly, when I started reading this, I thought, "Meh... another typical storyline." But I really like the quick twist and change in the beginning. When everyone suddenly disappeared and Jake's body started moving, I was already too into the story. Hahaha You cought me... Or maybe it was I that cought the bait. Hm...
Anyways, that was an interesting read.
There are a few typos, and seeing that you are writing this as a novel, I will be more than happy to point them out (I just know some people don't like that, so I'm asking first ;) )
