I'll be dead-honest with you: it couldn't keep my attention. The writing itself is good, but the introduction is fairly bland. I've read so many tear-jerkin' abused pet stories that the idea had grown rather tired. I managed to get my tired eyes to focus through the beginning and the end, and what I saw I liked. The last line, in particular, has a certain resonance that ending lines usually need.

Like I said above, the only thing that really needs work is the beginning.
