HI there,
Very short! It gripped my attention as I wanted to know why James seemed to be torturing himself. Clearly this is a man that is tormented by his own personal demons, but unfortunately the story is left hanging. One doesn't know why he is doing this? Perhaps that was your intention. But I needed some more conclusion to it - to make more sense of it. I got to the end of a compelling story thinking "I don't get it..."

Hi there!
What a lovely poignant story. I am not the greatest critic on short stories, having only just made an attempt at starting to write one myself.
But overall I liked this story. It was heartwarming.
