I wonder, are you some sort of tracker? Just curious..you seem to notice animals in such detail.
I really like the piece. It reeled me in slowly then I was impressed by how the picture of life is painted..very poetic and I like the flow. I could see it written out in my mind, from an eagle eye view.
Were you actually out with a calf?
All in all, Very clever poetry. Good job.

Hi, I really like the story, especially the concept. It is surprising that a spirit would want treasure..but then so do dragons :) . I really expected the spirit to trick them again, extort more out of them and leave them even more desperate, so I think your ending quite merciful. It reads very well for a short story and could even be expanded on. I only noticed one typo: "How nae they had been, so foolish and self-absorbed", the word naive. Look forward to reading some more of your work.
