Very good. The plot is consistent and well constructed. That being the high point, on the contrary I believe it needs more detail to the setting and much more emphasis to the husbands interpretation of his wife's irritably and distress. I do like the way you described the phoenix though, and the man's feeling of marvel too it All in all though, this is a good piece.
