Hello, there! I'm just dropping by with a review for you.

This is a very short story—a drabble—about a juror being dismissed from service for failing to follow the judge's instructions. It's also humorous owing to the story's last sentence. *Laugh*

Suggestion(s): I suppose you could call it a style thing to separate the line with the judge's dismissal of the juror from the line containing the judge's reasoning, rather than combining them into a single paragraph. As written, though, there shouldn't be a quotation mark at the end of the dismissal line, as the the speaker is the same on the next line and there is no intervening text.

I enjoyed reading this; it gave me a chuckle. Thanks for sharing it with us, and write on!

Hello, there! I'm dropping by with an Anniversary Review for you.

I like how you describe the ocean surf and how the sound and rhythm can capture a person's senses. The advancing and receding waves can weave a hypnotic spell, which is probably why so many sleep-aid machines employ that sound.

My favorite line / phrase: "To a cadence with your booming drum." This calls to mind the pounding of the surf on either the shoreline, no matter whether it's sandy or rocky.

Thanks for sharing this with us, and write on!

Celebrating you with an Anniversary Review.

Hello, there! I'm dropping by with an Anniversary Review for you.

Laura's being captivated by the shiny bauble reminded me of Brenda Song's character, London Tipton, on the old TV show The Suite Life of Zack & Cody: "Ooh, shiny!" was an often-heard phrase. Laura was so taken by the beautiful ring, that she completely failed to take into account the security measures the store might employ (e.g. shatterproof glass). At least she got away without attracting local law enforcement or seriously damaging her face.

Thanks for sharing this with us, and have a wonderful evening!

Hello, there! I thought I'd drop by with an Anniversary Review for you.

First of all, I am so glad you re-posted this story from your original account. I found and read it there, then wondered if a review would make its way to you.

I believe I detect a faint echo of the Home Alone franchise here. *wink* Jimmy "The Snake" has the whole caper planned out to a T... he thinks. Toys haphazardly strewn about the house interfere with his plan, as well as causing him more than a few minor injuries. A somewhat housebroken little dog and a pet hamster make their own contributions to Jimmy's discomfort, and he eventually escapes the unintentionally booby-trapped domicile.

I also can't help but feel a little sorry for Pepper but, as they say, that's the way the doggy door closes. Also, it would have been interesting to see Jimmy's reaction when he found out that not only didn't he get away with any loot, he was substantially poorer than when he'd entered the house in the first place. *laugh*

Again - thanks for transplanting this terrific tale, and thanks for sharing it with us. Write on!

Hello, there! I thought I'd drop by with an Anniversary Review for you.

You're a braver model of fashionable headgear than I, ma'am! In this poem, you shout right out "I'm wearing this hat and if you don't like it - tough!" I pretty much limit myself to ball caps adorned with various logos and / or slogans. I like the description you give, and can practically "see" you wearing it.

As an aside, I was amazed to find I'd come across your work elsewhere, either at PMO directly, or via an authorized reprint from there. Very cool!

Thanks for sharing this, and have a wonderful evening!

Hello, there! I'm dropping by with an Anniversary Review for you!

I don't watch much "live" television; I'm more a "What telecast rights have been sold to YouTube or Netflix?" kind of viewer. That being said, the run-up to the dream portion certainly reminded me of the portions of various talent-oriented TV shows I've seen, although the judges are far less openly cruel than Mr. Spark. Still, you can see the dreams being crushed, and you hurt for them.

Fast forward a few years, and Mr. Spark finds himself at the mercy of one of the poor souls he'd belittled. Karma really is somethin', isn't it? Thanks for sharing this with us, and write on!

Hi there, Steph! I thought I'd drop by with a review for you.

I love your poem of time spent in Alaska. Whether it's based on just a visit or on actual time in residence, it paints a wonderful picture of some of Alaska's wonders. I like how you bring out not only the natural beauty of the Northern Frontier, but also the fabric of First Nation life (poles with stories and houses with names).

Favorite line / part: "Clouds walk on mountains". What a lovely visual this creates!

Thanks for sharing this glimpse into a land most of us will never see for ourselves. Write on!

Hello, there! I'm here with an Anniversary Review for you.

For reasons that are not made clear—which doesn't really affect the story—Laura stands at the crossroads of time. This is another way of saying she is near death and, as the story goes on, seems to be drawing closer to drawing her final breath. The voice calling her name at the beginning is now all but inaudible as she receives the final explanation of the meaning of the crossroads. For some reason, the insect and the balloon illustration remind me of a scene from Enter the Dragon [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2bl4eHIs5w]. She makes her choice... and we come to the end of a very interesting story.

My favorite part: All that alliteration!

Suggestion(s): You may want to consider increasing the font size to help those with vision issues enjoy your story more.

Review of MOTHERS
Review by Writer_Mike
In affiliation with Positive Hearts Reviews Group

Hello, there! I'm just dropping by with an Anniversary Review for you!

Your poetic list certainly covers the primary attributes of motherhood. Certainly for there to be a mother, there must be a father involved in some way, shape or form, but mothers hold the patent on creating and nurturing that brand new life. Their role as protector starts for sure as soon as the window on that little stick changes color and, realistically, doesn't end until mother or child has passed beyond the veil. Most kids in a neighborhood know what kind of person is coming out the house or apartment door after them, if they misbehave: a mom. Maybe theirs, maybe the mom of the kid they're terrorizing - but somebody's mom is going to be on the scene to put a stop to the foolishness.

Mothers want the best for their child, and spend untold hours planning the best way for them to succeed. While they're doing that, they're also passing along basic knowledge and hard-earned wisdom to help the child avoid some of the pitfalls of life. When their child confides their dreams, mothers share their own, the ones they'd had for themselves, as well as the ones they hope come to pass for their child.

Mothers are indeed the glue that holds things together. Thank you for sharing this with us!

Review of Silent Stones
Review by Writer_Mike

Hello, there! I'm just dropping by with an anniversary review for you.

This poem takes us from bustling highways and byways, along former thoroughfares, finally traveling a path surely forgotten by all but the locals. At the end is an old gate, wearily guarding the entrance to a garden of stones - an old military cemetery, perhaps. Each stone tells its own sad tale about the lost one who rests beneath it. It is a somber and solemn place, made all the more sad by its state of disrepair which, of course, tells a story of its own.

Your words paint an accurate picture of an old cemetery, and I thank you for sharing it.

Hello! This is a review for "I Write in 2024.

Dark was absolutely an appropriate genre selection for this piece. It begins with an older man having his sleep disturbed by dreams—memories—of his time as a young boy in a concentration camp during World War II. The terrible ordeal of being transported like cattle, albeit with no concern on their guards' part for anything resembling the comfort or safety of their charges. The horrible sorting into one of two categories: marginally useful... or disposable.

Tenaciousness, determination, and more than a little luck, allow the boy to survive to manhood, thus becoming the only member of his family to escape the regime's "Final Solution". He migrates to London, learns a trade, marries and becomes a parent three times over.

Many things can trigger memories, with scents or odours being perhaps the strongest triggers. One such scent triggers a memory so horrific, he'd almost forgotten it. It leads to a horrifying situation that would otherwise likely have gone unnoticed.

This story melds the past and the present, and reminds us of the horrors of war. Thank you for sharing it. As an aside, I had the opportunity to visit the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site in Southern Bavaria. The mood among the visitors was somber and, appropriately enough, the day was seriously overcast.

Hello, there! I'm just dropping by with an anniversary review for you.

Well, it looks like some involuntary hubby-swapping has been going on (involuntary from one wife's point of view, at least). The blonde's husband has been stepping out on her and she's had enough, to the point that she's contemplating ending his life. As she says this, however, the woman she's visiting—the other woman, perhaps?—suggests she check out the situation under her own bedcovers.

Will she listen and reconsider? Will it be her own faults that cause her to back down? It's hard to say. Thank you for sharing this with us, and write on!

Review of Life On Mars?

Hello, there! I'm just dropping by with an anniversary review for you.

So, a little exploration of the Martian landscape takes place here... but it doesn't end well for one of the explorers, Norm. Apparently, he's gotten a little sci-fi background, as the creature he approached sparked a "Star Trek" original series reference from him. He might have done better to have familiarized himself with the adventures of Marlin and Dory in Finding Nemo (bobbing lure plus impressive teeth). At least it looks like Jack was able to report on the presence of Martian wildlife.

Famous last words: "I’m sure it’s harmless."

Hi, there! I'm dropping by with an anniversary review for you.

This story describes the prelude to the unexpected intersection of internet dating and the real world. "Internet Deb", apparently a dedicated aficionada of online dating, is shopping with her friend in anticipation of a date with "Internet Man", as he's been dubbed by Mandy. After acknowledging that she may have fudged a bit on her online physical description, Deb makes her purchase and goes in search of her young son. Unfortunately for her, she finds him in the custody of the toy department manager; it seems he's broken a toy. Even more unfortunate, the manager is her date-to-be. Given this uncomfortable situation, one has to wonder if the date still took place.

My favorite line: Martin didn't do fake smiles.

Hello, there! I'm here with an anniversary review for you.

This is a lovely, sweet poem honoring a life shared. The earthly sharing has ended by virtue of the person's passing, but the prospective joy of a heavenly reunion helps temper the grief that is felt. The circumstances laid out here almost certainly apply to many of your readers—perhaps not specifically the loss of a child—as the loss of any loved one carries a special pain.

I'm sure your friend appreciated the sentiments you captured in your verses, and I thank you for sharing this poem with us.

Hello, there! I'm dropping by with an anniversary review for you.

Expectancy, the child of Hope. Surely an indicator that the immediate future appears to be a positive one, full of opportunity and the possibility of happiness. From whence does it spring, what prompts it to appear? From glad tidings, perhaps, and the likelihood of good days ahead.

Whichever is true, I'm glad it visits each of us in turn, and I thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

Hi, there! I'm dropping by with an anniversary review for you.

The poetry form you used lends itself well to discussions about food (which was probably the whole idea behind creating it in the first place). It doesn't look like there's a specific rhyme scheme, and you didn't need one to complete your poem. You made the required syllable count work to your advantage, too. Good job!

Also, thank you for introducing me to a new poetry form! I'll have to try it out.

Hi, there! I'm just dropping by with an anniversary review for you.

Poor Sam and Becca. Becca urged Sam to follow an ill-advised trail and her poor hore was the first to pay the penalty. The grizzly, confident in its might and ability to secure its prey, quickly dispatched Sam, and then went after the girl. One can't fault Becca for trying to escape, but she had to have known that her panicked flight would be futile. Still, you do what you must, no matter the odds, no matter the certainty that you are about to become part of the horrible legend.

Hi there, I'm here with an anniversary review for you!

Two young men, each apparently with a budding relationship issue, are the topic of conversation at a girls Wine Night in party. The ladies are friends and/or relations of the guys, are decided that matchmaking of some sort is clearly in order... and they're well into the wine portion of their night in. Hi, there! Just dropping by with an anniversary review for you.

Cricket? Well, why not? There are plenty of building-related terms I either don't know or find strange (soffits, anyone?). It was very good news for your homeowner friend that the job was done correctly, although I find myself in agreement with your roofing contractor that the couple should have been at least made aware of the cricket option.

Hi, Dragon is hiding! I dropped in to do a review for you.

Your five points are well-taken and still applicable nearly eleven years after you wrote them down. I particularly agree with you regarding points one and three. It is my custom to hold a door open for someone entering or exiting behind me, and I've even been known to apologize to someone for not doing so, because I didn't see them coming around a corner. Because I was raised that way, I extend this to opening the car door for a front-seat passenger. In my case, courtesy of a wife, four daughters and their friends, this typically means I'm assisting a lady. Just to be clear, this is in no way a commentary on their ability (or lack thereof) to do it themselves.

Regarding number three, observing this maxim is what allows me to find my wallet, keys, thumb drives etc. first time, every time (unlike some folks I could name). Of course, I've also been known to re-shelve books, grocery items, etc. from wherever some lazybones abandoned it. I'll admit to the possibility there's a little OCD involved here.

Thanks for sharing your perspective on a number of common themes, and write on!

Hi! I hope this finds you well. I'm here to review this chapter of your novella.

Your intro certainly did its job setting the hook for me. Why indeed would a doctor be involved in a child's disappearance? The story behind it is not only fascinating, it could make a reader's toes curl. One has to wonder how Leo is faring in Joe's world, and if he's planning on coming back. I thought the last line wrapped back up to the intro quite nicely.

Ah, another fine entry for the Amazing 55 Word Story. I miss that contest. The story's description caught my eye: "Break the rule, and you break the ruler." Being an older fella—and old school, to boot—I was expecting a tale involving a misbehaving youngster and a bit of corporal punishment. Instead, you've provided a view into what might be called 'incorporeal' punishment. I guess it's not easy being a god.

Thanks for sharing this, and have a great day!

Well, it looks like you've been able to garner a lot of participation from your fellow Interactive "shrink or grow" aficionados. There are an impressive number of branches overall, with what appear to be at least three choices from which to choose at the end of a given entry. I'm overly familiar with these types of items, but this looks like a well-rounded activity to me. Keep it up, and have a great day.
