Review of To Father
Rated: E | (4.0)
I read this with care...because there's a lot of feeling packed in your lines: love for your father, of course, perhaps also excitement at the opening world of literature, sadness at the thought that poets aren't regarded highly (?) by society.

I am no poet, but dare I say, I think there's also something unsaid:
"He did not die angry Father
As many people do.
As many people do."

These lines hint at something to come...or something known to you; but that something is not revealed in the lines/stanza that follows. Perhaps you are holding back a little?

Keep writing, good luck!

Review of Be My

I like this poem! It captures so much hope, so much emotion because it has those oh-so-rare qualities: clarity, simplicity, honesty of expression. Qualities that, I think, define great poems, great writing.

Keep writing!

There is much power hidden in this little 'story-brief', Naru...I do believe it can be the seed of a great short story (perhaps even a book?) if this power is carefully released and directed.

May I add, I sense it will be a great challenge to get what I call the 'Voice of the Narrator' consistent and strong while narrating the experiences and even thoughts of someone who is dead! But then, this is a challenge that the great mystery/fantasy/ghost story writers have tackled and overcome...I wish you good luck and fun in doing so!

A nice tale, MarvelGirl26 :); I quite enjoyed reading it.

It's such a wonderful idea to have talking, thinking, feeling animals in a story, and also bringing humans into the story. Your tale actually leaves me wanting to know more about what happened to Charlie and his parents, and how and why it happened... maybe a case for a longer version?!

Good wishes!

Review of What is Beauty
Rated: E | (5.0)
Julitka, this is really beautiful...there is love in every line, expressed in the visions of natural serenity, soft beauty ...even in the awesome grandeur of the Northern Lights. Your letter is a poem, powerful and evocative; it reminds me of 'Black Marigolds', which Steinbeck quotes in his 'Cannery Row'...
Mike is a lucky man! *Smile*

A good illuminating read, thanks Sherri. How true the old mantra, that "It takes a helluva storm for the sky to clear..."

Yes, I think all of us, all of our lives are filled with ups and downs, with cloudy and clear skies alternating all the time. Each setback, each crisis, each calamity tests our resilence - and strengthens our faith and courage each time we face and overcome it.

Strength to thee. May thy skies be clear.
