I really enjoyed this a lot! You are absolutely right when you say that everyone has things to be thankful for, and you should feel thankful every day and willing to have a new attitude every morning when you wake up. I like the idea of the story. It seems like you have a good beginning going on. When you use dialogue, make sure you start a new paragraph after adding the dialogue instead of having dialogue in the middle of a paragraph. I'm really liking this story so far, but I was kind of surprised when I came to the part about the mother being murdered. If your story includes violence like this, that's completely fine, but I would suggest to put the rating as 13+ or 18+ instead of E, because many people only read E writing, and you don't want them to be shocked or disgusted if they stumble upon that particular part in this chapter. Otherwise, this is very impressive. Write on!
