Oodles of great information! I have been actively tracing my family tree(s) for a very long time! It is always good to read an article on the "how-to's", even if I have fallen into those same pitfalls along the way. It's great for the newbie to the world of genealogy to beware of the obstacles but it's a great reminder to those of us who have be climbing that family tree for years to recognize the pitfalls we have overcome...as well as those that are still perplexing us today!
I understand the time frame for this was the 1940's but it could honestly be for ANY era. I remember the same familiar sounds from the 1970's. And the description of the town was very good. I am from Pennsylvania and I was wondering if the author was remembering something from this area of coal country.
I perceive this work as great ground work for a story in the future! It pulls at the heartstrings of a simpler time and warm memories.
