What an interesting story! I noticed a few spelling mistakes and typos but nothing terribly disruptive. I wondered for a long time if something was hidden within the bundle and why an interpreter was needed and the revelation at the end was well worth the read. The idea of Sophia and her illness holding on to the physical manifestation of her family tree is heartwrenching.

Woah, that was a super story! Super atmosphere! From the beginning I could feel John's uneasiness and it made the anticipation that much better. The last few sentences made me want to read about the other weird happenings in town.
Might I make a few suggestions? Italicize your characters' thoughts and use quotation marks when someone is speaking to facilitate reading. It confused my eye to read through your text and realize someone had spoken or thought.
