Review! *Angelic*

I was in the mood for brain teasing, and have found these word search puzzles to fit the bill.

First Thoughts:

Great title. Love Game of Thrones, stuff. Revisiting the show through these puzzles brings vivid images to my mind. This particular puzzle celebrates the Dragons over the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. *CastleGr*

Further Thoughts:

The Word Search consisted of 17 words. Not too long, not too short. Just right for a brief break from chores. *Pthb*

Observation:

Hey, I'm only here for the game. It I enjoyed the puzzle, I give it a fiver. So, this is for your own consideration, above the puzzle, the introduction...
"know of things that breath fire?" (breathe)

As I said, you may want to correct that little blip. Believe me, I know how the "Game of Thrones exhausts us. Keeps us running in circles, puts our brains on autopilot ... *Crazy*

Parting Thoughts/Conclusion:

I had fun solving the Word Search. I will be searching for more!

Good job! *DragonHead*

Until next time--Puzzle on!

On my pursuit to Word Search happiness, I found your item. I was in the mood to go back out westward for a while, so I chose this one.

My Thoughts:

Yes, South Dakota sounds like a wonderful place to live. I did live in neighboring Wyoming. I loved it there. Winter weather aside, there is so much natural beauty. I've been there briefly leaving Wyoming and heading back to New England. I had hoped to see Mount Rushmore. Unfortunately, the July timing was bad as the whole city was full, no rooms for at least three hours down the road. *Sob*

Further Thoughts:

This was a good size Word Search with 25 words to solve. I went after the shorter words, since they seem to get lost deep in a mostly solved puzzle. It worked out fine. I did stumble across some longer ones. I guess they can't hide easily. *Laugh*

Parting Thoughts:

I've enjoyed working on this Word Search. I loved the feeling of "tourism" I felt with the chosen words. SD is a fascinating place. And your governor makes great commercials advertising the job opportunities there. *Plug*

Conclusion:

Good job! *BoxCheckB*

Until next time--write on!

I am also reviewing your item because I saw it advertised on the Newsfeed. *Smile*

First Impression:

Loved the title, "Daddy." I thought it was the perfect thing to read on Fathers' Day.

Further Thoughts:

This poem, and I'm not familiar with the form, but it wove itself together in such a smooth fashion. I think it really worked out well for the Daddy theme. I love how the poem describes the strength and protective love a father gives.

It's a beautiful tribute to a Dad. It shows the thankfulness of his raising a family, the feeling of being shielded from harm. It is a warm and loving poem That brought a bit of mist to my eyes. My father has been gone for many years. I think of how much he has missed meeting only one of his grandchildren before his death. He loved her so unconditionally. 8 more grandchildren were born after he was gone.

It's days like Fathers' Day that bring us so many memories of our youth with Dad.

Parting Thoughts:

"Mighty as a towering oak, roots deep, strong.
Warmth fills our comfortable, ordered home."

These lines demonstrate strength and warmth and comfort in a home where the father is loved and respected. Also, the family under his care are indeed loved and respected. It is how a family thrives.

Conclusion:

Beautiful, heartwarming poem. *Heart**Heart*

Happy Fathers' Day!

Until next time, Write on!

I am reviewing your item because I've been having fun solving Word Search Puzzles, lately. I find them a relaxing change of pace. I'm also getting faster and faster at solving them. *Bigsmile*

The Tile Setup:

It was a medium length puzzle with sixteen words to uncover. It highlights words for a place I love to relax at ...the beach! *Wave1*

Further Thoughts:

The crossover words are always fun, as well as shorter words which know how to hide, for some reason. *Geek* The first word I solved was "Dolphin" I guess it sort of jumped out at me. *Dolphin*

Parting Thoughts:

I really enjoyed finding beach related words. I must admit, I have never spotted a mermaid whenever I was on the beach. But I have seen dolphins. *Ha*

I could suggest adding a beach scene photo or image above the puzzle to add to the ambiance of surf and sails and sand and whales. Okay, I got a little out of hand there. Also, adding more words to make players work up a sweat. But that's not my job since I'm here for the fun and not to review a contest entry. *Angelic*

Conclusion:

Thanks for the fun at the beach! *Beach*

Until next time--puzzle on!

Review! *Angelic*

I bumped into this fun little item while searching for Word Searches. That's been one of my obsessions lately. It's a fun break from regular chores and to exercise the brain in a different way. *Bigsmile*

What I loved:

I love mysteries, so this drew me right in. My mind went to "Clue." I guess that's Colonel Mustard's fault! *Laugh*

Things like ... "WhereWereYou" caught my attention. In fact, it was the first solve of the puzzle. I laughed when I saw "Butler." The Butler did it? *Thought*

Parting Thoughts:

I must say that this was one of my favorite Word Searches. It had some of my most favorite things. Plenty of crime and mystery to sink my teeth into.

Difficulty:

The puzzle makes you take a double look for cross-over words. But I've gotten pretty good at finding those. *Wink* Short words I find can be harder to discover than longer words. They can hide better. *Puzzle2*

The last word found? "Maid." It must be because I should have been cleaning up the kitchen after dinner rather than getting involved with another word search. *Giraffe*

Conclusion:

Good job! *Busy*

Until next time--write on!

Well I'm back. You know I found your folder of Word Searches so I'm going through them all.

Initial Thoughts:

Since I've been interested in solving Word Searches lately, I have to applaud you for creating a folder to contain all of your WS puzzles. It makes it much easier for a player to have them all in one place and enjoy the challenge. *Geek*

Further Thoughts:

This was an interesting search. It's based on popular words. There is no specific theme. It crosses many interests, animals, critters, sleuthing, household, plus many more words of interest. Quite unique! *Target2*

There were many long words to be searched. Also words relating to authors, mysteries, criminal law words and even composting. The first word I found was "murderous." Hmm, I guess I love murder mysteries! *Scale1*

Parting Thoughts:

The level of difficulty is about medium. The slow downs are mostly going over the cross-over words that have been covered already. In the end, I got them all! *Bigsmile*

Conclusion:

Very good puzzle, lots of fun with interesting words. *Puzzle2*

Until next time--puzzle on!

Yes, Viv, YOU are an official WDC teenager! *CakeP*

My Thoughts:

I searched your port for more Word Search puzzles and found this one which deals with all things WDC. I also looked forward to having a couple stumble areas for a player. Those include cross-over words which are difficult to find once highlighted. And, numbers thrown in. Although this one did not utilize them the same way the other puzzle I reviewed, did. This was a little easier.

Further Thoughts:

I found the word choices to be the epitome of describing our second home, here. Good job covering much of the activity that we enjoy.

Difficulty Level:

This one went much smoother for me than the last one so far as being "tricky" and keeping me looking at the tile to the state of distraction! I'm on to your tricks, now. *Laugh*

Parting Thoughts:

It was a fun Word Search. It made my brain feel relaxed during the exercise. It's also an appropriate puzzle to choose since it's WDC related and this is YOUR WDC Anniversary! *Party*

I have been on a hunt for Word Searches recently. I found yours on the "Browse By Type" menu. I t was about food and drinks. It sounded festive, so I took a look. *Bigsmile*

What I liked:

I liked finding a few of my favorite things on the list. Hey, we all have our guilty pleasures, I guess. In fact, I made Chili yesterday. *Cool*

Shrimp and burgers are a favorite of mine, too. *InLove2*

Further Thoughts:

Watermelon was my first fine and fish was the last. I love puzzles that cross over so that a double word find is within the same found word. (Chili dogs and chili /chilli in British spelling) And since that's how it was spelled in the puzzle, that's what I looked for. *Laugh*

Parting Thoughts:

This was a fun Word Search that had a couple tough finds, but all in all, made for a relaxing brain exercise. It also made me hungry by the time I finished it.

Conclusion:

Good job! *CoffeeT*

I am also reviewing your entry as a judge at "The Bard's Hall Contest Thank you for entering our May Villanelle contest!

The Villanelle Form:

A villanelle is a 19-line poem with a specific structure that includes five tercets (three-line stanzas) and a quatrain (four-line stanza). The poem has two refrains and two repeating rhymes, and the first and third lines of the first tercet alternate at the end of each subsequent stanza until the last stanza, which includes both repeated lines. The rhyme scheme is ABA ABA ABA ABA ABA ABAA.

Your poem hit the marks on the form handily. *BoxCheckB*

The Subject Matter:

As per the contest rules, the Villanelle had to be about a Mother or a Mother figure. Again, the rules were followed. Your poem had to do with not only one mother, the birth mother, but also a second mother--the one that was the adoptive mother. *BabyBoy*

What I liked:

I liked the loving kindness woven within the lines. The understanding that 16 is much too young to take on the responsibility of a baby boy, and raise him to adulthood. The mother cared so much for her son that she chose the better life for him. He got a loving adoptive mother who raised him and gave him a family life he richly deserved. *Biking*

Parting Thoughts:

The refrain lines fit perfectly into this poem, where both mothers were thanked for his life. One for the birthing and one for the raising mother. *Rose*

I had two mothers who gave life to me.
Now I'm a branch on each family tree.

Conclusion:

Lovely and touching! *Butterfly2B*

Review! *Angelic*

I am reviewing your entry as a judge at "The Bard's Hall Contest Thank you for entering May's Villanelle, prompt.

First Thoughts:

The title "Military Mom" lets the reader know how a devoted mother waited and worried for her son's safe return from his tour of duty.

Further Thoughts:

This poem form is a Villanelle. Its form is a highly structured with 5 tercets and ends with a quatrain. There are 2 repeating rhymes and 2 repeating refrains. *CheckY*

Refrain:

a military mom displays
so often in so many ways.

These lines convey to the reader that the Mom was brave even though worried, she continued each day doing what needed to be done. "She keeps the home fires ablaze" *Home*

Parting Thoughts:

A Military mom suffers in silence, heart and soul connected to her child's well-being. She prays and yes she even crochets. I can picture her crocheting. I watched my grandmother doing it when I was young. *Floral7*

Conclusion:

You followed the rules with a Villanelle form pertaining to a mother. You painted a vivid picture of a mom waiting for her son to come home. *Salute*

Good job! *TeapotB*

Review! *Angelic*

Well, I'm back again playing another one of your Word Search puzzles. This title caught my attention. *Bigsmile*

First Word:

Would you believe the first search I found was Downton Abbey? Of course you would because you know how much I love that show. Still waiting for another movie release. *Pray*

The searches went along at a good pace. A couple kept me hunting because as you probably know, short words can hide easier in a puzzle than the longer words.

What stumped me?

"Saucer" was my last find. I think that one took up more of my time than all the other words combined. But in the end, it just stared right at me and I got it.

Parting Thoughts:

I enjoyed this Word Search because it was filled with lovely tea and crumpets, and cakes that could be imagined in the stories of long ago in Jane Austen's works, as well as bringing to mind the ladies of Downton Abbey. My imagination had a field trip. *CupcakeY*

Delightful! *TeapotGr*

Initial Thoughts:

Your title and brief description let the reader know what the subject matter will be about. I thought it would be a good idea to read this poem today since I have felt a bit of stress over appliances lining up to fail, soon. Well actually, I need to get a couple replacement parts, but was irritated over it nonetheless. *Angelic*

Further Thoughts:

Absolutely good advice on coping with stress. It was a rainy day, so I skipped the walk and worked on organizing a space to feel the sense of accomplishment. Now the fun part of redecorating comes! *Bigsmile*

Your poem has a nice flow. It has woven in many helpful points and done it with rhyme and melodic rhythm.

Parting Thoughts:

I'm happy I decided on this particular poem to read today. It is uplifting and made me take notice of controlling stress before it becomes a nasty power unto itself. *Monster2*

I am also reviewing your item because I saw it at "The Best of the Rest at the Bee Hive . Word Searches are the activity for the month of May. I'm glad I found it, and that Steph decided to choose this activity for the month since I'm been on a Word Search, search! *Bigsmile*

Further Thoughts:

*CheckP* Great subject matter. It was uplifting to uncover each word. It brings to light all positive things of faith and friendship and hope, always hope. The odd thing was, "Hope" was the last word I found, and I have a daughter named Hope. *Shock* You'd think such a familiar name and a short word to search would have been higher on the list of discovery.

Parting Thoughts:

I really enjoyed your Word Search. I've been finding these games a fun break from the usual chores of the day. It gives the brain something to do besides twiddle its thumbs. *Think* (Do brains have thumbs? *Shock2*)

I have been on a search for Word Searches since you guys competed in "Game of Thrones. I saw many of them while crediting reviews and knew I would work on a few ... or more. *Magnify*

I found this easily on the May Challenge over at "The Best of the Rest at the Bee Hive . I guess Steph had some foresight to have this activity for May. *Ha*

My Thoughts:

Everything GoT and lots of fun to boo! I enjoyed the puzzle and finding all those reminders of GoTs of the pasts. Loved that series! *Crown1*

The level of difficulty was fairly moderate. But you know? I always love Word Searches and haven't lost to one, yet! *Angelic* Thus I base it on the length of time to complete it. Since I was doing it in between grilling, I guess it became an old friend that I kept going back to. *Pocketwatch*

Parting Thoughts:

There were a good amount of clues to keep it interesting. Little Finger was my first find. Arya Stark my last. I guess no rhyme or reason to the finds. *Thinker*

Conclusion:

Great Word Search, Kiya! *Gem*

Hello there, Dragon is hiding Happy WDC Anniversary! *ConfettiB*

*CakeB* HAPPY WDC ACCOUNT ANNIVERSARY FROM "Anniversary Reviews*CakeP*

First Thoughts:

I found the title and brief description very interesting. I wanted to read this and learn the table behavior in the Chinese culture, and differences from there than US.

Further Thoughts:

Wow! The etiquette involved is very stringent. I can see how an American would fail dreadfully with the Lazy Susan turning and helping themselves to whichever food item they want. Oh,my! I love it though. I love that there is such respect for Hosts and guests and how to seat them at the table. The whole wrist up serving tea and what it means. Much detail indeed.

The chopsticks sticking into a rice bowl while attending to something else requiring use of one's hands, and what it means to do that, would for sure never come to mind in a non-Chinese culture. I believe I am guilty of doing that myself. I love your Mom's response to catching you doing that:

"My mom, seeing what I had done, was horrified and told me with great solemnity that I should never, under any circumstances, do such a thing again. She explained that it was synonymous to a curse upon whomever the chopsticks were pointed at."

Observation:

Very minor misplacement...

...and then reach over to rotate the Lazy Susan". *Left* There's an orphaned quotation mark there at the end. Not enough to rate down. *Wink*

Parting Thoughts:

I am really happy I found this in your port. Learning some of these cultural differences is quite interesting.

Conclusion:

Great job! *DragonflyR*

Hello there, A.C. Julie
*Party* Happy 2nd WDC Anniversary! *ConfettiB*

*CakeB* HAPPY WDC ACCOUNT ANNIVERSARY FROM "Anniversary Reviews*CakeP*

Initial Thoughts:

The brief description states that this is your first poem in your Creative Writing class. I was curious to read it. I'm glad I did! *Bigsmile*

Further Thoughts:

Your poem is what I would describe as a Prose-Poem. It doesn't follow stringent poetic form or style. I do like these types of poems since they tend to tell a full story that produces images in the reader's mind. This one definitely did.

You weave in so much emotion from the start of the abandoned Teddy Bear, a way to move on from a part of childhood. Yet, the cry of the Teddy Bear was imagined. It was a a persistent play upon the youth's heartstrings ... but then, growing up made the Teddy's call fade more each year.

The descriptions show the reader how life progressed over the years. A new Stepmother, a new friend many people in the house to grow up with.

Stand out lines:

"listened to the choir of engines sing" Beautifully put. The engine doesn't always mean noise, it can sound unique to the one who listens, like a choir of voices. I could hear it in my head.

"The black sheep of the family ran away from the flock
He wanted to become the shepherd" I like the way this took one considered a Black Sheep, and gave him opportunity to become his own person ... a shepherd, a leader in fact. Nicely penned. *Bigsmile*

Observation

"I made 6 years' worth of memories with a new friend"

You should spell out numbers zero through one hundred.

Parting Thoughts:

This poem touched my heart on many levels. The ending was certainly bittersweet. I did love the parting image left there to complete the lifecycle of the narrator and that abandoned Teddy Bear. *Teddy*

Conclusion:

Good work! *Fireworks4*

I'm baaack! That's right, came back for more fun and games. *GameBall*

My Thoughts:

Well, I know "The Bard's Hall Contest loves to go Slam-Poetry in February, but it's nice to acknowledge the other things that go along with the month.

This puzzle pretty much covers that ... except nowhere in there does it say WebWitch's Birthday! *Rolling* Maybe you'll revise it one day. *Whistle*

Further Thoughts:

This was fast paced starting up for me, but slowed down when I didn't find "candy" until it was the last word left. Yeah, I don't have a sweet tooth. *Shock2*

Observation:

"February is a busy month for a bee! There's a lot to pack into a 28 day month."

Since February '24 was a Leap Year, it could be written 28/29 as happens during Leap Year.

Yeah, I know, useless information since here-in-after ... you have four more years to update it! *Laugh*

Conclusion:

Another cool puzzle that I enjoyed! Thank you for that! *Puzzle3*

I am also reviewing your item because I saw it posted on the Newsfeed the other day and saved it until I could read and review it. *Smile*

My First Thought:

The photo, the Title and brief description already had my eyes tearing up because I knew this would be a poem about finding the spirit of love and laughter through loss. *Hug1**Cry**Hug2*

Further Thoughts:

The poem was beautiful. A lovely tribute to the memory of your grandson, Brandon. I found it uplifting even through the sadness of loss. *Sun*

The form Petrarchan sonnet is an interesting form. I have not been a poetry writer who sticks to forms. I guess free verse is my go to. One day, I may have the patience to learn different forms. However, you did a beautiful job following along with the Note on the bottom. Thanks for letting the reader know all about the form. *HeartV*

Loved This:

"I feel your essence in the wind's embrace.
I hear your laughter at night when I dream."

"I see your soul in the sun's shining beam,
And sense your halo in the moonlight's glow."

Truth be told, I loved it all. The words chosen painted a beautiful portrait of Brandon through the love felt for him.

Parting Thoughts/Conclusion:

It is such a tragedy losing a grandchild -- your child's child! I'm sure he is watching over you from above. And, he is there with another whom you love. His memory is cherished and that is clearly felt. *Bird*

This poem shows through the senses you've used, sights, sounds, touch ... moon, sun, water's flow ... You lit up our very souls like a song.

You have a fascinating way with poetic words, Tracey. *KeyC*

Initial Thoughts:

The title and brief description let the reader know this will be a melancholy poem since it involves "loss." Loss does not only apply to a death of one, but, it could apply to the death of love being returned.

Further Thoughts:

Loved these lines...
"The fleeting aroma of bitter sweet
Like the last drops at the punt of a bottle."

Great word usage here. *Smile*

Observations:

Mimicking the believes (beliefs) of Aristotle

Also, in your brief description above: "A Poem describing someone who is grieving the lost (loss) of who they believe is their soulmate"

Parting Thoughts:

The lines of your poem flowed smoothly. The last three lines starting with "W" Waiting, Wondering and Wishing -- packs a punch to this poem showing the loss of the idea that this was a soul mate in the eyes of this person. The loss, almost a request of Saturn's daughters to reunite the love of this couple again on earth.

Conclusion:

Well done! *Saturn*

My Thoughts:

I've been coming across some of you GoT-ers puzzles and word searches made during the competition, and have been enjoying them immensely.

Sometimes the brain needs a break from stories and poetry and needs to sink its teeth into some fun games. (Hmmm, does a brain have teeth? *Thought*) Oh, well, you get what I mean. Anyway, I did enjoy your puzzle.

Firstly:, it was about food. Some favorites in there. *Bigsmile* *ScallopBr*

Secondly: The puzzle was relaxing and did not make the player want to pull her hair out. *Butterfly2g**Butterfly2r**Butterfly2y*

Don't get me wrong, there are times when the mind needs some exercise and enjoys the challenge. However, when it's just for fun, and it relaxes a tired mind that has filled itself with a day's long collection of clutter, this was perfect!

I'm happy I found this little puzzle and decided to play. *Delight*

Great job!

Until next time--play on, write on, and ... enjoy life after GoT! *Scroll*

My Thoughts:

I am also reviewing your item because it popped up on the random Read & Review! I am so happy this story popped up. It's just the message I needed at the moment. It sent chills down my spine as I read on. *Phone*

Further Thoughts:

I loved reading this because I never thought of even attempting to call Jesus. You did, those many years ago and found a voice that brought you great peace and joy. Your call was answered, and I suppose it gave you hope. It may have turned your life around in way never thought possible.

Parting Thoughts:

This story has great impact. It's well written. I have nothing to suggest for improvement. Thus, I am returning the auto-GPs award.

Conclusion:

I think I need to make a phone call. *Pray*

Until next time--write on!

Well, I'm back to play and review your Word Search.

First impression:

Party time for WDC's 22nd. There are so many things going on during party week and month, it's difficult to keep up with all the fun. Everyone is celebrating the festivities, contests and activities.

I didn't get to do many puzzles at the time, but now, I'm finding a new fondness of these Word Searches. *Magnify*

Further Thoughts:

I have done another one of your puzzles recently. I found it relaxing and a bit on the easier side with fewer words to solve. This one, I got to tell you kept me busier a bit longer. I like that I had to work harder to solve the puzzle. I did successfully complete it and felt exhausted..no I mean excited that I didn't walk away. I was a bit tired when I delved into it ... I know, excuses! *Laugh*

Parting Thoughts:

Something as easy as a party should have been completed in 7 minutes. I mean who doesn't love a party? Would you believe the last word I found was --party? *Rolling*

All kidding aside, it was a great puzzle, lots of fun and but for that last word, a good pace for a puzzle.

Conclusion:

Great job! *ConfettiB*

Until next time--write on, Puzzle on and party on! *Party*

Review! *Angelic*

I have been in a puzzle/word search kind of mood lately. Perhaps because so many of them passed before my eyes while crediting reviews in April. Got to thank GoT for that! *Laugh*

My Thoughts:

This was a fun puzzle. It was not a difficult level, thus giving someone who didn't want to burden her mind for a bit a little fun and games and just enough brain exercise. Thank you for that. *Delight*

Great word choices related to an Alpha Male. The words fit the type and I'm okay with that. *StarStruck* Several words were longer ones, thus were the ones I headed for right away. There's only so much space to share with longer words.

Parting Thoughts:

Nicely constructed puzzle. Interesting theme. *Puzzle2*

Conclusion:

Great job! *IceCreamB*

Until next time--write on!

I am also reviewing your item because it popped up on the random Read 7 Review. *Bigsmile*

First Thoughts:

Hotdogs ---summer, grilling, picnics, kids and fun. Those things are what I think of when buying hotdogs. It is thoughts of the past, growing up with family get togethers and all the cousins gathering around waiting for a hotdog off the grill.

Further Thoughts:

Thinking about the inner parts of a hotdog is never a pleasant thought. I think we've sort of moved on to gourmet hotdogs if such a thing is really sans critter parts. But then, who wants to think too hard on that. I do not. *Ha*

Oscar Meyer's always leaves a catchy song in my head. I may be older now, but memories do bring me back to those days.

Parting Thoughts:

Well done and quite descriptive poem where the word hotdog is not used. It appears to be a free verse that packs "eight to a plastic package," with ease.

Conclusion:

Thank you for the memories this poem brought of childhood fun and laughter and bellies full of an old favorite.

Until next time--write on!
