The result of a talk with a friend about overcoming fear. Written: 12 November 2002
In the darkness close behind,
A fear is growing in your mind.
It reaches out with razor claws,
And teeth that cut like two big saws.
It's eyes are yellow, laced with red,
You start to think it wants your head.
Ever closer, your fear still grows,
Where you are it always knows.
Then you realize its all in your mind,
And without your fear the monster is blind.
So you shut out the fear that you've felt,
And you sense the monster beginning to wilt.
Your fears melts away, you're going to win,
Your mouth forms a into triumphant grin.
You leave to celebrate with all of your friends,
Safe since the monster has met its end.
But the monster's not dead, it still is near,
It is just waiting for the return of your fear...
