A conversation with a child.
Through Darian’s Eyes


Can I feed the birds, she asked.
Sure you can, just throw some seeds.
No, the ones in the sky that cannot reach the seeds.
They can fly down to get them you can not reach up there.
But they can’t see them so I’ll fly in the air.
But you know you can’t fly so how will you get to those birds.
I can pretend I can ride on the rainbow to feed them.
I suppose you could do that but pretend seeds won’t help.
This time she thought harder and said right to me.
I’ll tell them where to find the real ones and they can follow, you'll see.
