There's no calm before the storm.
Leaves rustle against
harsh winds tearing the petals
off the lonely rose

Frozen tears falling,
icy marshmallow sheets of
peanut butter sleet

Footsteps cracking like
dozens of eggs dropping on
cold cemented floors

Caged gorillas claw
fighting for freedom, angry
with the universe
