A personal poem about the feeling of going nowhere alone.
Voyage solitaire

I know not what the horizon holds,
As I sail forth the future unfolds.
I dare not try to see beyond my sight,
Find out in time one day I might.

Waters are rough, cold and unkind,
The waves hurt the body, the salt burns the mind.
Forever it seems this voyage will last,
And on my ship the first signs of rust.

Travelling forward into the unknown,
Always in doubt and always alone.
Sometimes the sun does briefly appear,
But all it leaves behind is illusion and fear.

The night is down but still I sail,
I’ve got no-one to love and no-one to hail.
I know not when, I know not where,
I am just the victim in this voyage solitaire.
