Death of a Sparrow

Autumn is the most beautiful time of year
Leaves on the trees change colors
Bright yellows, orange & green
Then fall to the ground
The music that is made as they
Are crushed beneath your feet as you walk along
Is like no other, makes you feel alive.

I found a dead Sparrow today

Sitting on the rocks along the ocean
as the waves crash into the rocky shore
The salty mist sprays the air
With a fragrance that is the scent of nature
The scent of life.

And...I found a dead Sparrow today

At ocean depths as yet to be fully explored
Are species of fish
That man never knew existed
Just when you think you know almost
Everything, you learn something new
It’s a whole different world down there
Overflowing with life.

But...I found a dead Sparrow today

Climbing some of the highest mountain peaks
In the middle of summer
It’s still like winter up that high
Snow capped, breath taking, beautiful
You can see for miles & miles
If you let out a yell you will hear an echo
As if the mountains are repeating you,
As if the mountains are alive.

Yes...I found a dead Sparrow today

If you study some of the images
Taken with the Hubble space observatory telescope
You can see Galaxies that are thousands of light years away
The vastness of the Universe can not be imagined
Billions of other galaxies…trillions of other solar systems. Many just like our own.

This universe is a pulsating, throbbing organism
Exploding with orgasmic frequency
Creating, birthing, transforming, recycling...life!

A Sparrow died today.
