about how we have given up what was once sacred to us
A dusty bible sits
On a dark wood shelf
Surrounded by other books
And has been made common.
Sitting beside moldy scraps,
Once love and revered,
New, shiny, brown, and well kept.
Now dusty, dingy, torn and blackened.
Forgotten.
