I wrote this in honor of my 3 oldest boys.
A Mother's Plight

"Don't sit so close to me".
"I was here first"
Sometimes I think that I am truly cursed!

"That's mine you frizz-head”.
"Well it's mine now"
some people say, “You get through the day, how?”

Potato chips in the carpet,
juice on the tile
but then I tell myself it only lasts a while.

Obnoxious little creatures
they yell and they drool
now where did they put my comfy foot stool?

My hair is graying,
my nerves are shot
I think I’ll just stick my head in a pot.

But then at night
tucked under a sheet
with a bare foot showing my heart skips a beat.

All the stress and alarm
of that wild crazy day
seems to disappear and melt softly away.

So when I feel like screaming
and climbing the walls
I'll remember the night time and the quiet love in the halls.
