while falling asleep, while waking
Thoughts while climbing into bed

One day,
I'll wake to find
that all my cancers
were real,
and all the spoons in the hospital
won't be able to dig them out.

Thoughts while stretching, morning

Hold me,
keep the daylight out,
if only for a few more minutes.
Or
let me pretend
that yesterday is now
and today won't come for hours.
Or
kiss me on the forehead
and leave.
