~ Memories lose their color ~
When I look for her
I only see an empty chair.
She's a drifting memory,
ashes floating in the air.

Photographs are vanishing
images of what we once were.
I watch the hues fade to black
and everything's a blur.

Her words are dreams sailing,
disappearing in the distance.
As time passes she's slipping
further away from existence.

Moments become fragments,
forgotten remnants of the past.
Though my heart still knows her
the specifics will not last.

Memories are but vagaries
with nothing substantial there,
like when I turn to look for her
and find only an empty chair.
