A dark look at a senseless drive-by shooting.
DRIVE-BY
by Alex Wylie

They found him
in a puddle of water
His eyes,

dreary dark clouds--
the February Oregon sky.
The gun powder blast,

a tumultuous wave--
a reminder to never turn
your back on the sea.
the dirt black BMW

and the man leaning
out the passenger window,
spraying bullets at
everyone.

Had he known this would happen today,
he might’ve kissed his wife goodbye this morning.
