In the darkest part of night...

In the darkest part of night,
just beyond my nighttime sight,
He's lurking silently outside my room,
Will this mean certain doom?

Crawling in he hits the door
The noise rattles me to the core
A silent pause is quite unfair
Because I know he is still there.

Creeping slowly across my floor
It scares me so much more
To know that he will soon be here
Grasping onto my nighttime fear.

A soft tap on my bed
I'm wondering if I'll soon be dead
He jumps up and lands hard
I pull up the covers as my guard.

He walks cooly on my bed
getting closer to my head
when he reaches I open my eyes
and my fear is replaced with surprise.

Instead of a stranger standing there
Two orange eyes stop and stare
I reach out my arms to embrace
and kiss my kitty on his face.
