A poem inspired by the song "This is halloween" from the Nightmare before Christmas
A monster hides under the bed,
Nightmares crawl in my head,
Faces glaring knowingly,
Pumpkins smirking glowingly,
Trolls playing in the street,
Skeletons dancing to the beat.

Rotting zombies shambling around,
Werewolves  changing on the ground,
Vampires fangs dripping with blood,
Dirty creatures in the mud,
A threat of murder rings in my ears,
I look around but no one else hears.

Death everywhere in sight,
All is dark, where is the light?
Halloween comes this time every year,
Never before have I felt this fear,
Demons lurk around every corner side,
Green skinned men in the bushes do hide.

Devils chase innocent out of sight,
Incubus  preying on woman in  the night,
Halloween, Halloween, makes me quiver,
It's  very name makes me shiver,
Only day of the year,
I truly find fear.

All night long I stay at home,
Not daring outside to roam,
Supposed shrieks of laughter,
The carnage I may see after,
All the lights on in my house,
Not making a noise like a mouse.

In the morning what carnage will I see?
In the morning what will there be?
Dawn is here, night is over at last,
I think to myself all the terror is in the past,
Until this time next year on the 31st,
When the monsters again wake with a thirst.
