Fireworks

the warmth of his stare,
the glimmer of his smile,
although it is cold,
i plan to stay a while,

on the shore line of the lake,
set glimmering before us,
the fireworks begin,
and we join the shouting chorus,

we talk of all things,
from school to beloved music,
until it is time to part,
though we wouldn't chose it.

with a quick take care,
and a heartfelt glance,
back again on my own,
waiting for another chance
