Piece about someone who was in an abusive relationship.
She'd do anything to be with him.
Pushing through the pain, she says, "He doesn't mean it."
Still, the years go by slowly,
And the abuse ensues with no end in sight.
When will she learn?
This is not what she deserves.
There is more to life than trying to please a man who doesn't care.

Drawing away from family and friends;
Convincing herself they don't understand.
Who will help this poor, lost soul?
Alone everyday until he returns;

Imprisoned, though the door is wide open.
Enslaved, though her body is free.
What is it that keeps her here?

Waiting for the life she's always dreamt of;
Believing he will give it to her.
One by one he feeds her his lies.
Over and over she forgives him.

She ends her life silently.
Leaving behind only a suffering memory,
her last words pleading,
"Don't forget about me.
Don't forget the pain I tried to ignore."
