Why?
Why can't we talk . . .
You know, an actual conversation.
And "yes," "no," "hi," "bye,"
None of those count.

Why is it that no matter what
It seems we're at each other's throats?
I'm trying to let go . . .
Why can't you?

The grip around my neck is hard
And breathing doesn't come easy.
So take a breath . . . just let go,
And finally air can reach my lungs.

Why can't you let go of my heart?
You know that pulling is no use.
'Cause by now there's almost two separate pieces.
Eventually you'll have to let go . . . give it some slack.
Or my heart will be totally worthless.

Why can't we both let go?
If we don't do it now . . . it'll be too late,
The harder it will be to release.
