My "Pretty as a Picture" entry.
Amidst the trees, and leaves, and bark,
a girl, whose heart is cold and dark.

Her face stained, with hate and tears.
Lives in light of all her fears.

Ruby lips to show the world.
Favorite dress. Hair that’s curled.

Disguise the pain with outer splendor.
Deep inside, her heart is tender.

Angelic grace to move about.
She’s bleeding from the inside out.

Her heart is dying,
Such a mess.
Now evident,
on her favorite dress.
