Just a first attempt at poetry.
So many years I’ve lived alone
Forced to take care of my own
Never thinking love could be found.
Never really knowing how.

Life’s demands taking over
My heart grew cold and frozen over.
The daily grind became the norm.
Doing what it took to survive the storm.

Single Parents are tough that way.
Just surviving day to day.
Teaching, running and daily chores.
Your kids are your life there’s nothing more.

Then there you were out of the blue.
You showed me something I never knew.

You took my hand
You held me tight
I fell in love that very night.

Your glowing eyes
Your loving touch
I never knew I could love so much

You’ve thawed my heart
No longer cold
Full of warmth You’ve made it grow
So this is LOVE I’ve never known

The daily grind, yes still here
But so much fun with you near

The walls have fallen that I’ve built for years
Every day no longer a chore
You’re loving embrace brings happy tears
Knowing we will LOVE for ever more

SO THIS IS LOVE
