Catharsis for an act of betrayal.
Fighting to hold on, the battle left me broken.
There I stood my ground while you ripped me wide open.
A criminal for all to see, my punishment didn’t fit the crime.
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, my heart for all your lies.

Now as I lay in this emptiness feeling only my shallow breath,
my heart doesn’t beat anymore, my soul only longs for death.
Regardless of your petty hope, the lies are all I see.
Betrayed, abandoned, and discarded is all I will ever be.

So stop looking for reasons. There are no good ones here.
And stop trying to give me answers. The only answer, is fear.
A friend with a knife, I should have never turned my back.
Bleeding me dry, you took from me all the things you lack.

My strength, this heart, do they get you through the night?
My passion, my fire, do they give you the will to fight?
Conviction and dishonesty are such an unlikely pair.
The disaster you’ve created, is more than I can repair.

For you my friend, I fear the darkest days are yet to be had.
For all the good you have taken, you also take the bad.
