Granny was part cherokee. Sweetest woman you would ever meet.
Granny was a Cherokee Indian we know
She was stern and tough but very sweet
The year her second baby come there was snow
She put a lot of miles on her small feet

Granny loved a garden that grew corn
She loved flowers gardens and flowers to pick
In Cleveland, Tennessee was where she was born
In her life time she was quite a bit sick

She was a woman with a strong faith
It wouldn't do any good to try and change her mind
But I always felt good around her as well as safe
I saw her many times be so kind

Her first baby was still born
They named her Mae Frances
She came June tenth of that morn
There would be two more branches

But Granny lived to be eighty one
And she was such a joy to all
We miss her but we know she's with the son
And she stayed true and her faith stood tall.
