Love's Glow

Let’s turn our back on all their blatant mimes.
Come, take my hand, and walk with me a while.
We’ll talk of love and of our happy times.
I’ll flourish in the sunshine of your smile.

They say, with love my heart you did beguile
and taught me things no maiden ought to know.
That you, my reputation did defile.
But we know darling that this was not so.

‘Twas nourishment that caused our love to grow.
Once fed, the spark became a raging fire,
consuming us within its heated glow
and fuelled by the strength of our desire.

Though some may try to break us two apart,
I won’t heed them; I’ll listen to my heart.
