A reflection after experiencing the Anzac Day dawn service in Mount Isa, Qld, Aust
As I stand beneath the Cenotaph,
And think 'bout those, who on our behalf,
Did give their lives that we could live,
In the freedom their sacrifice to us did give.

And think on those they left behind,
Who remember them in heart and mind,
Those who watched them join the corp,
Watched them sail off to war.

Those men, the steel from a new nation,
Men from the city or from the station,
Mateship it was that made the difference,
Whether on attack or on defense.

And these words of which are few,
I dedicate to those that flew,
The proud flag of our then new nation,
And on hats and hearts wore rising sun.
