A contest item and my first attempt at poetry
Deaths Door

Strolling beneath the moonlight clear,
I wandered far and near
Treading a well-worn path,
Through lonely hills
I stopped only staring,
Where the moonlight fell glaring
A ruined house atop a hill
The sight of which sent a chill,
A broken archway gaping wide
Beckons me to pass inside,
Dark shadows drifted over me
Urging me to turn and flee,
I continued on that steady path
Toward which I did not know,
The shadows lifted as I began to ascend
And as I crossed the threshold,
So then came my end.
