I changed the poppies again today.
I stood a moment to reflect and pray.
As a tear or two began to fall
I saw more names were on The Wall.
Our Memorial Wall is not just for those
Who gave their lives in a battle's throes.
It is also for ones who survived the fight
And lived with their dreams day and night,
Finally succumbing to age and pain
Have joined their comrades of battle again.
As I gently touch one special plaque,
I scan the Wall in this tranquil Park
And place a few red blooms aside,
For ones who have no blossom of pride.
Maybe their families have moved away
And cannot be here this Remembrance Day.
I changed the poppies again today.
I stood a moment to reflect and pray.
Next year, once more, the tears will fall
As many more names join these on The Wall.
