Unrealistic dreams are usually the best.
The snow swirled around my head
and he said, he said,
"Baby, I dreamed of you on the wings of a coal black bird,
and the song it sang was something I never heard."
"Don't you think this might be fate?"
"Do you believe in destiny?"
I knew before he spoke that this was something that had to be.
I stood with my eyes wide shut, against the startling revelation,
led on completely and blindly by his meager instigation.
And he spoke to me in a fairy tale tongue,
and his brilliant diamond eyes obstructed the sun,
his hands on my skin set me to burn,
and the faster they came, the more I would yearn.
His lips were like wine, his kiss was hell
too good to be true without a soul to sell.
His laugh was the wind that carried me away,
his smile brighter than the dawn of the day.
My heart and my mind, irrevocably lost,
never stopping to ask what might be the cost.
I awoke from the dream, alone and frightened
the pain of loss slowly tightened.
My heart as cold as the snow that blankets the ground,
but knowing you cannot lose what has already been found.
I'll search the world over to find my heart's song.
When I see your face, I'll know where I belong.
Until that day I'll smother the thoughts of what I refuse to see,
the impossible hope of turning a dream into reality.
