A work in progress about the demise of an addict
Needles In Vain

Take the needle from your arm,
You were once so full of charm

You poisoned your mind,
You poisoned my heart,
One of a kind,
Now you're ripped apart

Your silver-grey eyes
Once glistened like ice,
Now to your surprise,
You have eyes like mice,
Like the rats, or the rodents,
Where you used to sleep,
Death and despair,
Through your eyes seep

How do you think the rest of us feel,
Knowing you lay there, your heart is like steel
No thought for your mother, as she starts to cry,
You just stare and you tell her, you want to die

You've just given up,
You said you were through
You wouldn't eat,
So its eating you

You hid it all, now we're watching you fall
Brings a tear to my eye, that we're watching you die.
Though I guess on the inside, you've been dead for a while
Since you first bought that stuff, what's died is your smile

I used to think of your beauty, your poise and your grace
Now all that's left is a rotting addict's face
Your teeth are decaying, your eyes sunken too
Gia, how the fuck did this happen to you?

They say that you'll die soon, the doctors, the nurse
You won't even tell them if, where it hurts
Maybe you can't feel your pain anymore,
But our pain is real, our pain is raw

They say that you'll slip away in the night,
For me you died when you gave up the fight
You could have said no, walked away, come to me
Instead, in this prison, none of us can be free

I loved you Gia, I didn't want to lose you
Why, Gia, why?
You weren't even twenty-two
